The Cleft Anointing Oil

The Sunseat Ritual does not begin with sunlight. It begins with oil. Hagatha Cudgelflower established the anointing step as the very first act of every practice session — a moment of deliberate preparation that signals to the body that solar reception is imminent. The Cleft Anointing Oil is the formulation she has used for every one of her own sessions since 2017: a warm, golden blend of calendula, arnica, and frankincense in a base of jojoba and sweet almond oil.

The Oil is designed to condition the skin around your butthole before SPF application, softening the tissue, improving the adhesion and coverage of the Solar Aperture Crème, and establishing a warm, grounded energetic state in the practitioner's body. Frankincense has been used in ceremonial preparation across cultures for millennia; arnica supports circulation; calendula soothes. Together, the Solstice Council calls them 'the opening act of the solar body' — and Hagatha has never begun a session without them since first discovering the combination in Sedona in 2017.

The Cleft Anointing Oil comes in a 1-oz amber glass dropper bottle. Three to five drops is a full application, enough for one session applied with slow, deliberate fingertip strokes. It is pressed in small batches at a certified organic facility in Ashland, Oregon, and each batch is third-party tested for purity and potency before shipment. Each bottle is sealed with a beeswax-dipped cork and bears Hagatha's handwritten signature on the label — a detail she has refused to automate.
